Watoto is an outreach organisation in Uganda started by Canadian Christian missionaries in 1992. It provides a holistic child care program targeted towards meeting the essential needs of children who have been orphaned by the deadly AIDS epidemic. Watoto (pronounced: wah-toe-toe) means “children” in Swahili. Their goal is to provide spiritual, physical, educational and emotional care for every child so that each one will become a productive citizen and future leader of Uganda. Since 1994 Watoto Children’s Choirs have toured internationally as advocates for the 15 million children in Africa.
